Canet de Mar is a seaside resort on the Maresme coast, 40 km northeast of Barcelona, in a mountain range that separates the sea from the Montnegre massif. With a great textile tradition, it is also an important cultural centre with the church of San Pedro, the Virgin of Mercy (neo-Gothic) and the modernist houses of Domènech. Its streets are adorned with modernist buildings by architects such as Josep Puig i Cadafalch, Pere Domènech i Roura, Lluís Domènech and Antoni Puig i Gairalt. Sculptors such as Josep Llimona, Miquel Blay, Eusebi Arnau and designers such as Pascó are also part of the town's heritage. The Ateneu Catalanista, the Casa Roura and the Domènech i Montaner house-museum are among the town's heritage. A modernist route through the buildings of Canet allows you to get to know the treasures of this town in greater depth. The town's festival is on 29 June, St Peter's Day.
